South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) is reviewing the South Downs Local Plan to ensure that it is up to date and addresses important issues including nature recovery, climate change and supporting local communities.

The first public consultation on the revised Local Plan starts on Monday 20th January 2025 and will run until 5pm on Monday 17th March 2025.

All residents and local stakeholders are encouraged to take part in the consultation and recent proposals to include land northeast of Cocking as a site for housing development mean that the Local Plan raises specific issues for the village.

If you wish to object to the inclusion of the land northeast of the village in the SDNPA’s Local Plan you can download the Word template from the link below this article to create your own unique letter. Further details on how to submit comments or letters will be made available by the SDNPA once their public consultation period officially commences.

A site in Cocking has been put forward for development for 25 new homes as part of the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) Local Plan Review, along with many other sites across East and West Sussex and Hampshire.
