Cocking Bonfire & Fireworks Go Off with a Bang

Written by The Editor on .

Pumpkin CompetitionThis traditional village event was in doubt almost until the last minute due to heavy rain falling within half an hour of the planned start.  Happily, the rain cleared up just in time and a very successful evening was had after all.

For the first time the fireworks were set off electronically under new safety guidelines and a very good turnout of hungry villagers consumed 150 hot dogs washed down by 30 litres of mulled wine.

In line with tradition, there was a competition for the best pumpkin carvings. We feature a picture of Hazel West who won the junior pumpkin prize, while the senior prize went to a creation by Jasmine Smith and Millie Redshaw.
