Residents reminded to make their voice heard and vote

Residents of Chichester District are being reminded to make sure their voice is heard by voting on Thursday 2 May when district and parish elections will be taking place.

Following a boundary review by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England, this year’s elections will be the first with 36 seats, a reduction from 48 in the last election in 2015.

A total of 83 polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm. The count for the district and parish elections will be held at Westgate Leisure Centre on Friday 3 May, with results announced throughout the day.

“Preparing for district and parish elections is a huge task for councils across the country,” says Diane Shepherd, Chief Executive Officer and Returning Officer at Chichester District Council.

“People from across the district will be working hard over the two days to make sure everything goes smoothly, from polling clerks to those counting the votes. I’d like to thank all of these people in advance, because without their help this would not be possible.  It is so important residents exercise their right to vote and have their say on how local public services are run. A full list of polling stations and details of how to vote can be found on our website.  “We’ll be updating our website and social media sites with the results as they come through, so be sure to look out for your ward results.”
