Cocking and the surrounding villages are affected by traffic as a result of mineral extraction and residents close to quarrying operations may be even more affected.
Of interest to all concerned is the fact that West Sussex County Council and the South Downs National Park Authority are developing a new Joint Minerals Local Plan for West Sussex; one that will set a strategy for mineral development to 2031. The authorities are encouraging public engagement with work on the emerging evidence base and are seeking views on a series of Background Papers as set out below:
1. Setting the Context - Spatial Portrait
2. Minerals in West Sussex
3. Site Identification and Assessment Methodology
4. Safeguarding Mineral Infrastructure
5. Safeguarding Mineral Resources
For further details and instructions on how to comment on the Papers before the deadline of 28 July, visit the County Council's web page.
