West Sussex farmers Richard & Pauline throw open the gates of Manor Farm for an Open Day of a very different kind.
There are guided tours to see the Sussex cattle and sheep which graze 600 feet up on the Downs, while in the farmyard the specially-reared Oxfordshire Sand & Black pigs and piglets, together with geese, can be viewed.
One important aspect of this organic farm is to show the journey which the wool from their sheep makes as it ends up as a finished garment. This includes working with plant dyes and sustainable fabrics.Local but nationally acclaimed illustrator Rosamund Fowler is exhibiting her artwork and drawings, and there are demonstrations of Western Riding techniques which are taught on the farm.To satisfy any hungry visitors there are BBQ lunches available using organic meats produced on the farm.
The open day runs from 10.30am – 4.00pm and is entirely free.
