The PresidentAs usual steam engines have been sighted in the village, this time on their way to the Steam Fair at the Wead and Downland Museum at Singleton over the weekend.

The machine pictured towing a Jeep is 1905 Burrell Road Locomotive No. 2789 called 'The President'.  It has three gears, weighs 16 tons and has an 8 HP steam engine. It stopped in the layby, perhaps to gather strength for Cocking Hill and eventually left the village in a puff of steam - almost literally
