Over the last few years, Saint Catherine’s has begun to do more, not least since the village of West Lavington joined Cocking in the benefice.
Everyone linked to the Church is welcome to help in any way he or she wishes. Below is a list of activities to be involved in. If any one or more of these appeals to you, please just let me know and we can arrange for you to help just as much as you wish.
READING IN CHURCH AT THE 9.30 SUNDAY SERVICE: This is so important. The service is enriched by other voices, not just the priest’s.
SERVING AT THE ALTAR: (guidance will be given) This is one of the most spiritual of activities and really draws someone into the meaning of the service.
HELPING AT THE LUNCH CLUB: (once a month: serving at the tables; setting up the tables; clearing away). This is a very valuable activity and we desperately need extra help to cope with the work.
ARRANGING FLOWERS IN CHURCH: The flowers add colour and life to the church. Arranging them is an anonymous, but deeply appreciated activity.
CLEANING THE CHURCH: We very much need the help. The church is visited by a lot of people (great!!) but some have MUDDY BOOTS. Do consider joining the rota of cleaners. We aim to have enough helpers to make the turn to clean come round every two months.
THE CHOIR: Naomi Dekker has built up a choir which sings on special occasions. It’s great fun and there is always room for more singers.
THE BAND: plays about once a month. The music is undemanding and it is great fun to be part of an all age group.
Do please think about how you might help. I am very happy to talk on a non committal basis about any of these activities. I know how precious time is, but it also matters to enrich the time. There may be something here which will enrich your time.
